SMP Statement on Arizona Senate Primary Results

Washington, D.C. (August 28, 2018) – Chris Hayden, spokesperson for SMP, released the following statement on the Arizona Senate primary results:

“Congratulations to Kyrsten Sinema on securing the Democratic nomination and moving one step closer to becoming Arizona’s next U.S. Senator. As Sinema faces Martha McSally in the general election it will become very clear to Arizona voters that the only candidate capable of honestly fighting for what is best for Arizona is Kyrsten Sinema.

“Martha McSally spent the primary pandering to her conservative base and abandoning her prior political beliefs. After withdrawing her co-sponsorship of bipartisan immigration legislation and flip-flopping on her support for the border wall and her stance on DACA, she will not be able to suddenly walk it all back and pretend to be moderate Martha again. Martha McSally’s serial flip-flopping shows that she puts her career in politics first and the needs of Arizona second, and that Arizona voters cannot trust a single thing she says.”
