WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Senate Majority PAC released a new television ad in Montana highlighting Senator Steve Daines’ business record in China and getting rich off of helping a huge American corporation build factories overseas.

The new ad “Profits from Our Pain” tells the story of Sen. Daines’ work for Procter and Gamble, where he helped build factories in China. The company later cut 4,000 jobs in the United States while Daines got rich and our economy suffered.

The television ad is a part of SMP’s seven-figure buy that will run statewide.

“When it comes to China, Steve Daines is all hat no cattle,” said Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Matt Corridoni. “While Daines got rich in China helping an American corporation build factories overseas, our economy suffered and American workers paid the price. Steve Daines’ hypocritical ‘tough talk’ on China is just another sign that he’s a typical D.C. politician who is looking out for himself.”

The contrast in Montana couldn’t be more clear. While Sen. Daines has faced criticism back home, Governor Steve Bullock’s leadership during the pandemic has been praised. He has been called “the face of Montana’s fight to contain the outbreak” while Sen. Daines has been called  “dishonest” for taking victory laps over relief he voted against. Recently, the Cook Political Report moved this traditionally Republican stronghold into the “Toss Up” category.

“Our economy’s in crisis.

“But Steve Daines helped a huge American corporation build factories in China.

“Then, that same corporation laid off 4,000 American workers.

“Daines got rich while we struggle to make ends meet.

“Steve Daines profits from our pain.”
