Senate Majority PAC Launches New Digital Ad On Cory Gardner’s Ethics Woes After Palm Beach Soiree

Watch As Gardner Sips Champagne In Florida Days After Being Briefed on Coronavirus

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senate Majority PAC released a new digital ad “Champagne in a Crisis” highlighting the new ethics scandal Cory Gardner is facing after attending a champagne soiree in Palm Beach, Florida as the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading to the United States.

The ad urges Coloradans to call Gardner and remind him that he works for them, not millionaires in Florida. Gardner recently attended a Palm Beach party sponsored by Krug champagne – a French company owned by a multinational conglomerate of luxury brands called LVMH. The ethics complaint, first reported by the Denver Post, alleges that Gardner accepted a gift over the allowed limit.

The new digital ad is backed by a five-figure buy and will run on Facebook and Google targeting voters in Colorado.

“Is a global crisis really the time to be sipping on champagne?” said Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Matt Corridoni.“Cory Gardner has shown time and again his loyalty is to the millionaires lining his campaign coffers and President Trump, not to his constituents. Not only has Gardner shown an incredible lack of judgment and failure of leadership here, but now he’s potentially violated ethics law, too.”

According to the Denver Post, for the past 20 years, LVMH has lobbied the U.S. Senate on a range of issues related to its brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Hennessy, and Krug Champagne. Senators are banned from accepting gifts valued at more than $50 and also banned from accepting gifts from companies that hire lobbyists. Gardner attended this party with millionaire socialites after receiving a closed-door briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic and enjoyed a four-course dinner and live musical performances designed to “pair sound with Champagne.

The ad features footage of Gardner at the event, as first reported by Town and Country magazine in a story called “Inside the Palm Beach Mansion That Puts Most VIP Rooms to Shame.”

“Hey Colorado! This is Senator Cory Gardner.

“Why is Senator Cory Gardner at a champagne party in Florida?

“While COVID-19 spread, Gardner was sitting with millionaire socialites, even after being briefed on the pandemic.

“Sipping $1,000 champagne with a four-course dinner and live musical performances.

“Now a Colorado lawmaker is calling for an ethics investigation into his trip.

“Call Cory Gardner and remind him he doesn’t work for the millionaires in Florida. He works for you.”
