New Ad: Rick Scott Doesn’t Look Out for Florida Families

Washington, D.C. (October 9, 2018) – Today, SMP released a new statewide ad in Florida targeting Rick Scott for cutting $1.3 billion from Florida’s education system; leaving Florida schools to fall to 40th in the nation while he gave tax cuts to corporations and the rich. Rick Scott promised Floridians he would not cut funding from their public schools, but as governor he cut over a billion dollars from Florida’s education system, slashed Florida’s Bright Futures scholarship and eliminated over a thousand teaching jobs.

“Rick Scott cut over a billion dollars from Florida’s schools while he gave tax cuts to his fellow millionaires; leaving Florida families to suffer while the wealthy continued to line their pockets,” said Hannah Hurley, spokesperson for SMP. “Thanks to Rick Scott’s cuts, Florida schools don’t have air conditioning, teachers don’t have jobs and young Floridians are left without critical scholarships for college, but Rick Scott does not care. Rick Scott has demonstrated time and time again that he only looks out for the wealthy. At the end of the day he is just another shady millionaire that Floridians cannot trust.”
