New Ad: Patrick Morrisey Got Rich Off Opioids, West Virginia Suffered

Washington, D.C. (November 2, 2018) – Today, SMP released a new statewide ad in West Virginia targeting Patrick Morrisey for getting rich off of opioids while West Virginia suffered. Patrick Morrisey was a big money lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and he got rich lobbying for the same kind of opioid companies that fueled West Virginia’s epidemic. As attorney general, Patrick Morrisey has been criticized for going easy on opioid companies when he should have been aggressively policing them.

“When it comes to the fight against the opioid epidemic, Patrick Morrisey has made it clear that he doesn’t stand with West Virginians,” said Hannah Hurley, spokesperson for SMP. “Patrick Morrisey made millions off of opioids, and he was caught going easy on the opioid industry after it was busted for recklessly pumping pills into West Virginia. Patrick Morrisey had a choice, and he chose to work for the same opioid companies that brought hell to West Virginia. West Virginians won’t forget that.”
